Universal Basic Income: A Short-Term Solution, but Long-Term Challenges Require Action

About this video

In the ongoing debate surrounding Universal Basic Income (UBI), I believe it plays an important role in the short term, but is not the long-term solution. One of the fundamental purposes we have in life is the pursuit of earning money. However, when people are simply given money without a sense of purpose or contribution, they risk losing that drive and, over time, fall into depression. It's important to recognize that while UBI, or "compassionate basic income," can serve as a bridge for those displaced by automation and the changing job landscape, it is only a temporary fix. The reality is that many individuals who find their jobs disappearing have done everything society told them to do. They followed the rules, learned the necessary skills, and worked hard. Yet, now they face the risk of being left behind as their industries evolve. This is where retraining and reskilling come into play. We need massive, global initiatives to help people transition into new fields. It's not enough to just provide financial support; we need to offer education and opportunities for growth in emerging sectors. This shift requires government intervention and global collaboration to ensure we aren't just handing out money but enabling people to thrive in the new world. As a civilization, we need to embrace this shift in mentality moving beyond temporary solutions to create lasting, sustainable opportunities for everyone.
